17th & 18th Century Burney Collection newspapers

The newspapers and news pamphlets, gathered by the Reverend Charles Burney (1757-1817) represent the largest single collection of 17th and 18th century English news media available from the British Library. The collection includes nearly 1 million pages from more than 1000 pamphlets, proclamations, newsbooks and newspapers from the period, including the first successful London daily and first illustrated newspaper all dating from 1600-1800.

19th Century British Library Newspapers

This major collection from the British Library collection contains full runs of 70 newspapers, including national and regional newspapers. Special attention was paid to include newspapers that helped lead particular political or social movements such as Reform, Chartism, and Home Rule. The penny papers aimed at the working and clerical classes are also present in the collection.

19th Century UK Periodicals

This is Series 1 of a collection of digitised versions of key 19th century UK periodicals sourced from the British Library, the National Library of Scotland, and other libraries. Series 1: New Readerships comprises 1.2 million pages from over 100 periodical titles, with full runs in most cases, on women, children, leisure, sport, humour and satire.

Anatomy.tv

Interactive 3D human anatomy which allows the user to create a detailed 3D model of the Human Anatomy. Models can be rotated and layers of anatomy added or removed.

NB: You may see the error message "anatomy.tv concurrent users limit warning". If this happens, wait a while before trying again. Only 10 users can be logged on to anatomy.tv at once. To avoid this happening to others, make sure you 'log out' rather than closing your browser.

Arts on Film Archive offers on-line access to a large range of films on art, including dance and theatre, produced in the United Kingdom since the 1950s, and is a unique record of British and international post-war art, as well as of documentary film-making in the UK. Breast Cancer Searchable Information Center features a range of authoritative fact sheets, posters, and other materials from government agencies such as the National Cancer Institute, National Breast Cancer Coalition Fund, Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (U.S.), Agency for Healthcare Research and Quality, U.S. Preventive Services Task Force, United States Food and Drug Administration, Office of Women's Health, and other authoritative sources.

Once logged into ebrary, click on the advanced search link, select collection from the drop-down menu which brings up another drop-down. Select Breast cancer from that one, then click on the + sign to open up normal search boxes and enter search terms.

A combined database of the Burney Collection newspapers and the 19th Century British Library newspaper collection. It contains 3 million pages of historic newspapers, newsbooks & ephemera, from British national and regional newspapers.

British Periodicals

British Periodicals traces the development and growth of the periodical press in Britain from its origins in the seventeenth century through to the Victorian 'age of periodicals' and beyond. On completion this unique digital archive will consist of more than 460 periodical runs published from the 1680s to the 1930s, comprising six million keyword-searchable pages and forming an unrivalled record of more than two centuries of British history and culture.

CINAHL, Cumulative Index to Nursing and Allied Health Literature, includes references to nursing and allied health articles from worldwide, scientific literature presented for the needs of health professionals. EThOS is the new service offered by the British Library for the supply of theses to staff and students in Higher Education Institutions.
EThOS offers a consistent interface by implementing a central 'hub' comprising an e-store and a digitisation suite at The British Library site in Boston Spa, Yorkshire. The service replaces the earlier system of requesting theses by Inter-library Loan.

European Views of the Americas: 1493-1750

European views of the Americas is a comprehensive guide to printed records about the Americas written in Europe before 1750. It covers the history of European exploration as well as portrayals of native American peoples. A wide range of subject areas are covered; from natural disasters to disease outbreaks and slavery. The original bibliography was co-developed by John Alden and Dennis Landis, Curator of European Books at The John Carter Brown Library. The John Carter Brown Library, founded in 1846, is a foremost repository of rare books and materials and is a center for advanced research in history and the humanities.

Europeana.eu is about ideas and inspiration. It links you to 4 million digital items.

Images - paintings, drawings, maps, photos and pictures of museum objects

Videos - films, newsreels and TV broadcasts
Some of these are world famous, others are hidden treasures from Europe's museums and galleries, archives, libraries, and audio-visual collections.

The EUscreen project aims to promote the use of television content to explore Europe's rich and diverse cultural history. IIMP Full Text is a music journal resource with more than 770,000 articles, plus detailed abstracts and full text from 1874 to current, covering the scholarly to the popular.
IIMP Full Text covers a comprehensive range of subject areas in both scholarly and popular music journals ranging from International Journal of Music Education, Ethnomusicology, Jazz Education Journal and Musical Times to Rock and Rap Confidential and Rolling Stone. Articles examine the full spectrum of subjects and all aspects of music, including music education, performance, ethnomusicology, musical theatre, theory, popular music forms and composition. Queen Victoria's Journals

Queen Victoria’s Journals is a website which reproduces every page of the surviving volumes of Queen Victoria's journals (including draft volumes and copies made by Lord Esher and Princess Beatrice), as high-resolution colour images, along with separate photographs of the many illustrations and inserts within the pages. In total 141 volumes have been digitised, numbering approximately 33,000 pages. SpringerProtocols

SpringerProtocols is the world’s largest database of life sciences protocols. These ‘recipes’ allow scientists to recreate experiments in their own laboratories. SpringerProtocols contains more than 28,000 protocols, most of which come from the classic book series “Methods in Molecular Biology.” Used primarily in the life sciences, protocols provide individual sets of instructions to allow scientists to recreate experiments in their own laboratories. These documents provide written procedural methods in the design and implementation of experiments that describe the safety, bias, procedures, equipment, statistical methods, reporting, and troubleshooting standards to be used in order to successfully conduct the experiment.

Zandra Rhodes Digital Study Collection

The Zandra Rhodes Digital Study Collection provides unique open online access to images of 500 of the designer's iconic dresses and garments, for use in learning, teaching, and research internationally, by fashion historians, fashion and textile designers, and fans of Zandra Rhodes's work alike. These were selected out of thousands of couture pieces designed by Zandra Rhodes, which are held in her private archive at her fashion studio in London. The digitised garments cover her entire creative career from the late 1960s to the present day, with particular focus on her landmark collections of the 1970s and 1980s.
